Final Post
This year i got so much better and more musical. I always thought that i was really musical and could write music easy since I was at one time in band, but i wasn't. The only project that I did was ease was the drum loop, because I didnt have to worry about pitches. For the next few projects, listening to them again now, they make no sense and aren't organized at all. I didn't realize that throughout the year I got better at making my loops sound organized. They were also one dimensional, with always only one continuous loop and a drum beat. Each project ended up in me using something new, and I usually kept using it afterwards, so each project started to sound kind of deeper with more to the songs. By about the sixth project, I learned how to make my own syths, which is why the sounds start to actually sound different than other projects. I also learned how to use the riff machine, which what I depended on for a while, because it was easier than goin through each note on the keyboard, to see what sounded good. The only thing that I had learned to that point on writing loops, was not to use the black keys because I knew that they were flats and sharps, and I didn't know any scales that included them. Then all of the sudden my songs got much more depth, I had melodies, parts that were in harmony with the melody, and some third sound that accented the other two well. I think this was my best point of the year because the song was simple enough, yet also complex enough and I might have even listened to it on my IPod. Once I learned how to use poizone, it made projects easier for me, because I could make a sound much quicker, however listening to them now, I don't like how they sound, they're always too powerful and didn't have enough bass. My projects were consistently ok as I learned more things like ADSR and envelopes and LFO. But I started to get too heavily relient on bass, and bass parts were my melody with a synth part accenting that. Whenever I tried to do just a normal bass part throughout that wasn't overbearing, I never liked it. Then the chords progression project came, and i learned how to write the music in chords. This made the projects much easier and I stopped using riff machines because it was funner to write my own parts. I no longer had to "go through all of the white keys", but just pick some chord and use it. Unfortunately, that was the last project that I finsihed with that knowledge. One of the bonus tracks does have my own chords that I wrote though. I learned a ridiculous amount this year and improved my projects in huge amounts. I can now appreciate about any song and I'm more curious because I'm just like "I wonder what made them write that part like that?"

Grady rap
Ok, this project is soooooo far from perfect. The original rap that she recorded for us was horribly off beat, so i split her vocals into about 25 different pieces and spaced them better so that she would come in at the right time. Sometimes she said a word too long so i would have to cut that. Listening to it right now you probably can't tell the amount of work that went into it but there was a lot of work. Sadly the year is over and i don't have time to perfect it and make it sound good. It is still very offbeat, but it is autotuned and i added bass and a drum beat that go along with the vocals the best i could do in the given amount of time. If i DID have more time, I would autotune it a little better, add some harmony and of course make it so that it's not offbeat. I hope you at least enjoy hearing Mrs. Grady sound funny. Also at the end i took an "alrighttt" vocal and autotuned it the same way that I autotuned Mrs. Grady so it sounds like she says "alrighttt".
Bonus Track
This is just a project that I started a while ago but never finished. I didn't want to waste it so i decided to post it. It's not really for a grade or something, but just for fun.

Update on Grady Rap
i made a ton of progress this week, but you can't tell by listening to it. Mrs Grady was very off beat so i spent time editing her voice so that some words were shorter some were longer and tried to get her back on beat. It was pretty hard so it's definitely not perfect. I put a very basic drum beat to the whole thing, which was also hard.

Update
I didn't advance too much this week with anything drastic, but just refined some parts of the song to make it flow better, sound better etc. At the same time, I'm working a little with pitcher and trying to learn how to use it for the future and hopefully fit it into this project, however i'm kind of realizing that i might have to start over and use the song i'm working on for another project because the vocals from pitcher likely won't work with the song.

Use something new from Fl Sudio 10 Project Update
So far i am pretty far in this project. However, i still haven't added something drastically new like pitcher. i plan to do that next class. I have a nice base song to add the new things to. I have used new things like riff machine though.

Chords Progression
Finally finished this project. There isn't a whole lot different from the original, but i think this one flows better. It also follows the directions of the project better, with an underlying bass part that plays one note, not a melody. The project still has my original bass part, but not really as THE bass, but more an accent in the song. I also added another melody that connects the two "busier" parts of the song, making it a lot more like a real song. It's been a while since I last worked on this, due to vacation, so i may have left out some details, but that's all I remember.

Update on chords progression
I have been fixing my song lately and it's still not finished. The song makes much more sense though. Instead of it just switching 10 times between two different parts, it has more of a melody, and is more connected. I'm still working on making my one bass note that is throughout much of the song, sound better. I lessened the screetchyness of the slayer part a little bit too. I still want to make some more changes to the slayer sound though. I've still got some work to do, but i think it'll be finished pretty Tuesday or Thursday after vacation.

Chords Progression
I'm still not exactly great at making these chords, but it's making it easier to start writing a loop. I used to just play random notes until i found ones that sounded alright together. I'm not sure if i did the object of the project right, but i wanted to get something posted today, so i just posted it.
It starts out with an "ahhhh" sound that rotates through three different chords. the bass part along with it is playing three notes from one chord. They are C, E and G. (I wouldn't have known that but FL Studio 10 tells me!!!). The two parts seemed to mesh pretty well. After that i took an FPC loop, and switched it up a little bit so it would fit into my song. Eventually a slayer part comes in that has a really laid back loop. I thought the whole sound of the song was unique, but i liked it.
I still need to learn more about the chords, but i hope to continue using them because it makes life a lot easier. I'm not sure how i'm planning to do the next project though. I might stay laid back, but i might make it a little more upbeat, but try to control it so it's not excessive.
NOT DONE YET, FIXING SOME THINGS

PoiZone 3: Envelope and LFO Sections
I finally finished this project haha. As i said before it has a nice bass sound and a drum beat that continues throughout. There are three different poizone parts. I used the riff machine for one or two of them. I don't remember. The first one has an automation clip for panning going slowly from left to right for each measure. A "Heaven chorus" comes in for a while in the middle of the song. This too has an automation clip for panning. All of the poizone loops have the Envelope change thing with the attack, but it's really heard the best in the middle, when the chorus stops for a while. The song gradually ends with just the bass part. The whole song is more upbeat than the last one, but still laid back, which is what i was going for.

Another update on second A D S R
Unfortunately i have not finished this week like i hoped, due to unexpected filming and the lack of having class. However i have gotten much further, i have a base down for my song with a base part and drum beat, i'm just trying to fit in a loop of the poizone synth that works the best with the whole piece. I may finish next class but probably won't have time to post, so i expect it posted in time for two classes from now.

Update
I havent gotten too far on the actual song part of this project, but i've been messing with the different sounds i can make with the new tool. i actually at one time made a siren sound that was pretty realistic. I'm going to lean towards a bit more upbeat sound. It'll have one drum beat throughout and probably a strong bass line with the poizone synth accenting it with different loops. I'm shooting for finishing the project by the end of next week

A D S R
For this project i was kind of sick of doing up beat intense songs, so i made one that was much more laid back. It has one poizone synth that has different loops written for it. This synth had a pretty quick attack. basically everything else is also tweaked to some extent. My second poizone synth is the low bass part that is also laid back. That one has a long attack. I put in a laid back drum beat, and then a couple measures of more laid back drumming. The song ends with the bass part by itself with no drums. The song sounds a little jazzy, which was completely unintentional at first. As i tried different things, it started to come out like that, and i liked how it sounded.

Poizone
I started with one poizone synth that had everything adjusted to it. The arpeggiator is set at RND, and the range is two. Then, i made a one note loop, but it changes within the one note, so it sounds cool. This is played throughout much of the song. Then an FPC drum loop comes in on the left, and keeps switching between left and right. there is a "chorus Dream" loop for a while, a drum fill, and the then the next synth. I originally kept both synths together, but the first one got anoying in the background, so i took it out. This new synth has everything tweaked too, but no arpeggiator. I wrote a little loop for it, combined an FPC and let it play for 8 measures. Then the song kind of starts over, except for a few changes, such as some more drums, and it fades out at the end. I'm really liking this poizone, it's so much much quicker to make the exact sound i want.

Working on Learning Poizone.
So far i am pretty close to done. I have been experimenting with all the dials and switches on poizone, making many different sounds. One that i really like that i have been using is the arpeggiator.I like how it makes one note keep moving, so it almost sounds like a little loop in itself. i also am using the controls for sustain, delay, attack etc. Those are really handy too. My "song" isnt very long, and it only has two main parts with one higher, and one kind like a bass sound. I don't really know why i went to the sounds i did, i just liked them. i think it would be most under the techno genre. By next class i should have it up hopefully.

SVF and XY Modulation in Sytrus
I start off witha bass sounding sytrus and wrote a catchy part that is the main rhythm for the whole song. Then it comes in with my sytrus with the SVF and xy modulation. then a kind of creepy/epic vocal comes in. i realized that my songs always sound almost empty, so i filled this one up. a fill comes in and then a nice FPC beat. then 4 measures of a sytrus preset to guitar comes in. the bass comes in alone for two measures, and then a cool guitar part i wrote comes in. it ends slowly with the creepy vocals finsihing it off.
